Scenic Virginia Endowment As Scenic Virginia approached the end of its first decade, founding member and longtime supporter Betty Byrne Ware decided that it was time for us to have an endowment fund. We had come of age, she reasoned, and now we needed to be thinking about our sustainability as an organization.   There are many ways to support our work. Our annual fund donations – reflected in each Annual Report -- are the bread and butter of the organization. We have an established record of success, reflected through the generous support of hundreds of Virginians. We're happy to report that 2007 was our best ever in raising the monies needed to continue our mission.   Thanks to the vision and the very generous donation of Betty Byrne Ware, Scenic Virginia now has a new way to accept contributions to help ensure our longevity. As we begin celebrating our tenth year, it is appropriate that we finish out our first decade with the establishment of an endowment fund. When asked about her decision to create an endowment at The Community Foundation Serving Richmond and Central Virginia, Betty Byrne reminded us of the vital role that we play for all Virginians. “Virginia is a magnificently beautiful state" she said, "but we cannot take its beauty for granted." "We need the expertise of Scenic Virginia to protect our scenic vistas. I wanted to be certain that the work of this excellent organization would continue in perpetuity."
